Hi, I’m Ruth and this is my best friend Axel!
I’m a reward-based trainer servicing Hobart and surrounds. I believe in following a kind, science-based approach to dog training.
I started a dog walking business in 2023 after a lifetime of being ‘obsessed’ with dogs. Shortly after starting dog walking I realised that my true passion was in training.
I enjoy helping dogs and their guardians with essential life skills and basic manners incorporating enrichment and play into my training. I’m also passionate about helping reactive dogs and their guardians, so they can live happy and fulfilling lives together.
Boop the Snoot prides itself on being a non-judgmental, safe space. We are LGBTQI+, disability and neurodivergent friendly. Not only are we compassionate with the dogs, but with humans too.
Ruth & Axel.
Obsessed with dogs!
Why I do what I do
I'm a pet parent to Axel, a senior german shepherd. Axel has taught me a lot about cooperative care, pain in dogs, and how to look after a senior pup. His predecessor, Molimo, a rescue german shepherd x had BIG feelings about other dogs, people and essentially the whole world.
I remember feeling completely lost and overwhelmed when trying to manage his reactivity. When I researched trainers in my area so many seemed to use fear and pain as the best method to train a reactive dog (Sidenote: it’s not!). I want to help other lost and overwhelmed pet parents understand how to help their dogs with kind and ethical methods of training.

FAQs
-
The amount of training sessions that you may need will depend on your specific issues and concerns. If you just need to work on a few basic skills, you may only need one or two sessions, but if you have a complicated case, such as reactivity, you will likely need on-going sessions. We will discuss this at the initial consultation.
